Well if you are as bad a golfer as me, then, sometimes the view is what is important when playing 18.

We went to Google Reviews and these are the top-rated public golf courses in the State of Hawaii according to those that have played there:

  • Mana Lani Resort Course– Mauna Lani, meaning “mountain reaching heaven” is a tropical resort oasis set upon the famed Kohala Coast on Hawaii Island. It has 45 holes , a North and South Course and is not far from Kona International Airport where Mokulele Airlines flies. Since opening in 1981, the Mauna Lani Courses have collected numerous Best Courses You Can Play awards from Golfweek, Golf Digest and GOLF Magazine and was a 10 year host venue of the Senior Skins Game hosting many of golf’s greats, including Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Lee Trevino and Gary Player.
  • Kapalua Golf Course– The Bay and The Plantation Course – Recognized as the best golf course in Hawaii for fourteen consecutive years by Golfweek.
  • Waiʻalae Country Club-Located in Honolulu, WCC was opened for play on February 1, 1927.Mr. Seth Raynor, world-famous golf architect, and his associate, Mr. Charles Banks, designed and supervised the building of Waialae. Their outstanding work is reflected on many of the holes:

The par three 13th is designed from one on the Biarritz Course in France.
Waialae’s 8th hole is patterned after the famous Redan hole on the North Berwick Course in Scotland.
Our unique 16th hole is similar to the 6th hole of the National Course at Southhampton, Long Island.
The 10th Hole introduces features of the 17th or Road hole at St. Andrews in Scotland.

  • Wailua Golf Course – Owned by Kauai County, this is one of the nicest and best-valued courses in Hawaii.. ($60 for 18 holes non-resident on the weekends). It was first built as a 9-hole golf course in the 1930’s.  The second 9 holes was added in 1961.  Course designer is Toyo Shirai.  Wailua GC hosted 3 USGA Amateur Public Links Championships and is voted by Golf Digest as one of Hawaii’s best 15 golf courses. Also rated #3 course in Hawaii by The Golf Channel.
