Greek philosopher Socrates once said, “Man must rise above the Earth—to the top of the atmosphere and beyond—for only thus will he fully understand the world in which he lives.” Whether they are on-board a scenic Mokulele Airlines flight or soaring above a beautiful cresting wave, the athletes that ride on the Mokulele surf team take to the air often, and with confidence.
Most historians attribute the birth of surfing in the Hawaiian Islands, thus it would only make sense that Mokulele Airlines wholeheartedly supports that island tradition and a group of rising watersports athletes as ambassadors.
In 2012, Jeromy Hansen, son of founder and owner Ron Hansen, started the Mokulele surf team program as a way to give back to the community and help local kids compete around the state, With a who’s who list of some of the top junior names in the state, Mokulele helps get the kids and their equipment to competitions and media events around the state. Many of the athletes are local; state and national champions and even world champions!
With events and happenings on all of the major islands, Mokulele’s mission is helping people across Hawaii connect. For the surfers that means meeting up with other team riders on neighbor islands, bringing families together, and expanding the Aloha State’s surfing ohana.
While traveling between islands to attend qualification other events can get costly for the kids and their parents, Mokulele’s generous sponsorship offsets many of these expenses. Mokulele Airlines supports the community and with the surf team program a long colorful history of heritage and tradition.
