Introducing Southern Airways Express’ Newest Stop: Jackson, Tennessee

Beginning June 1, 2022, Jackson, Tennessee will be the latest addition to the Southern Airways Express route map offering flights from Jackson to Atlanta.

Southern’s service between Jackson and Atlanta will take place on the roomy and comfortable Cessna Grand Caravan. Fares will range from $69 to $99 each way. Additionally, Southern will offer weekend summer flights to Destin, with a brief stop in Memphis, on its seasonal flights to the Emerald Coast which are entering their 10th year. History

Originally named Alexandria, this city was renamed in 1822 to honor General, and eventual President, Andrew Jackson. It became known as a trading town and retail center for the surrounding agricultural areas. Today, it is known as the regional center for trade in the entire West Tennessee area. From historical discoveries to a modern-day alluring foodie scene, Jackson has so much to offer the everyday traveler.

Attractions

Salem Cemetery Battlefield – Take a self-guided tour among monuments honoring both Union and Confederate soldiers who were killed in the battle of December 19, 1862, just outside of Jackson. This visit includes a Welcome Center, three tour stops, a battle map inlay, five monuments and a historical cemetery with reference to David Crockett.

Carnegie Legends Museum – Jackson is a rich mixture of country music, blues and moonshine. This ultimately created the setting for the first rock music that was ever heard. As a matter of fact, the first Hard Rock Cafe was launched in Jackson by local Isaac Tigrett. Isaac’s step-mother, Pat Kerr-Tigrett, hosted the initial Southern Airways launch party at her downtown Memphis penthouse in 2013. Lake Graham – Located just 5 miles east of Jackson, Lake Graham is a 500-acre recreational area that provides the perfect fishing spot. It also provides a picnic area and a boat ramp.
