4th of July Fireworks 

If you are lucky enough to be in DC for the 4th of July, you are truly in for a treat. Enjoy the famous fireworks display at the National Mall as you celebrate our nation’s independence from one of the most patriotic places possible.

Visit the Supreme Court

Take advantage of educational lectures, a visitor’s film and various special exhibits at the highest court in all of the land. You can even sit in on actual court sessions since they are open to the public, keep in mind they operate on a first-come, first-served basis.

Visit the Smithsonian’s National Zoo

The National Zoo opened in 1889 and is home to over 1,800 animals. Fun fact: The zoo was one of the first in the world to create a scientific research program.

Wander Historic Georgetown

Georgetown is a charming area with Federal-style architecture and cobblestone streets. It is known for its great dining options, nightlife and fantastic boutiques.

See the Lincoln Memorial

Perhaps one of the most iconic memorials in all of DC, the Lincoln Memorial was constructed to honor President Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States. It offers amazing views of the Reflection Pool and the Capitol Building.

Discover the Library of Congress

Built in 1800, the Library of Congress is the largest library in the world. It houses over 16 million books and over 120 million other historical and media-related items. It’s the main research center of the U.S. Congress and is home to the U.S. Copyright Office.
