With the pandemic in our rearview mirror, it’s time to look at what blockbuster movies we can look forward to this Spring and Summer of 2023. And the main theme is simple- Superheroes and Superheroines and a lot of them. Scattered in with some familiar names like Barbie and the Mario Brothers.
Here’s what we will be looking forward to in a movie theater near you this Spring and Summer:
John Wick: Chapter 4 – March 2023-With the price on his head ever increasing, legendary hitman John Wick (Keanu Reeves) takes his fight against the High Table global.
Super Mario Brothers Movie – April 2023- Bah bah duh duh duh duh – This one is an animated feature for the kids based upon the video game. And Mario’s voice will be none other than Guardians of the Galaxy’s Chris Pratt! Also of note is the voice of Bowser, Jack Black.
Are You There God? It’s Me Margaret – April 2023- Based on the classic Judy Blume novel. Kathy Bates returns to the big screen.
Heart of A Lion – April 2023- Story of boxer George Foreman with Forrest Whitaker
Guardians of the Galaxy-Volume 3– May 2023-In Marvel Studios “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” the beloved band of misfits are looking a bit different these days. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him to defend the universe along with protecting one of their own. A mission that could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them. Chris Pratt reprises his role as Peter Quill.
Book Club: The Next Chapter – May 2023- Relaxing vacation in Italy turns to mayhem as Diane Keaton, Andy Garcia, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergman, and more take to the big screen in this sequel.
Spiderman: Across the Spiderverse- June 2023- The Spiderverse saga continues.
Transformers: Rise of The Beasts- June 2023- This will take audiences on the ‘90s globetrotting adventure and introduce the Maximals, Predacons, and Terrorcons to the existing battle on earth between Autobots and Decepticons.
The Flash– June 2023- Flash finally gets his own movie. “Flash Gordon” does not count, despite the Queen soundtrack.
Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny– June 2023- Indy is back for a 5th time on the big screen.
Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1– July 2023- Tom Cruise is back as Ethan Hawke.
Barbie- July 2023- Maybe one of the most anticipated of the summer, this is a live-action film about the toy line that still is alive and well today starring Margot Robbie. Prepare for lots of pink this summer.
The Marvels– July 2023-Centered around Captain Marvel as Brie Larson reprises her role.
Coyote v. Acme – July 2023- The story of a down-on-his-luck attorney (Will Forte) who takes on Wile E. as a client in his suit, only to discover that his boss (John Cena) at his former law firm is representing Acme.
